BYE-LAWS

Bye-Laws are introduced by the Committee from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the Club. They are supplemental to and in accordance with the Club’s Registered Rules.

Any Duty Committee Member may allow a variation of these bye-laws at his or her discretion.

1. PERMITTED HOURS:
The permitted hours for the supply of intoxicants shall be fixed by the Committee within and in accordance with the Licensing Act 2003. These hours can be seen and displayed in the entrance Foyer to the Club Premises.

2. CHILDREN:
a. No person under the age of 18 years will be allowed to purchase or consume intoxicating liquor on the Club premises.
b. No person under the age of 18 years will be permitted to operate or play the gaming machines
c. Children may be allowed into the Club only when accompanied by a parent or guardian The Member introducing the children will be responsible for their good behaviour.
d. Children are not allowed to sit at or be adjacent to either the Lounge or Hall Bars and must be seated in those areas as displayed.
e. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed on the dance floor after 9.30pm and are not allowed to play darts etc. Children between the age 14 and 18 may play games only when supervised by a responsible adult member.

3. ADMISSION OF NON MEMBERS:
a. Guests, visitors, spouses and partners may only be admitted in accordance with the Club’s Registered Rules.
b. An introducing member must accompany their non-member at all times and will be responsible for their good behaviour.
c. Non-Member’s must sign the Visitor’s Book provided for that purpose and pay any entrance fee applicable at the time of signing.

4. DRESS:
Men are not permitted to wear sleeveless vests, cut down jeans, overalls or specialised working clothes. Tailored shirts are permitted. All men are requested to remove headwear on entering the Club premises unless for medical reasons.

5. MEMBERSHIP CARDS:
Members are requested to carry their membership cards at all times whilst on Club premises as proof of their current membership.

6. CLUB GAMBLING & GAMING:
a. Only members and their bona-fide guests are allowed to participate in gaming and gambling.
b. Machines will be switched off 20 minutes after Bar closing time. Any plays or credits left in the machine at that time will be forfeited
c. Children or vulnerable adults may not participate in any gambling and gaming for reward.
d. Only members may participate in any specified member-only draws or events.

7. SNOOKER ROOM CONDUCT:
a. Children between the ages of 16-18 are allowed to play Snooker when supervised by a responsible adult member.
b. No food may be consumed in the Snooker room.

8. ANIMALS:
Dogs (other than Guide Dogs accompanying a blind person or dogs aiding a disabled person) or any other animals or pets are not permitted on the Club premises.

9. FUNDRAISING:
No Fund raising, raffles etc or any other money making activities shall be conducted by any member on Club premises other than that authorised by the Club Committee and operated by a person or persons nominated by the Committee.

10. FOOD AND DRINK:
a. Only food supplied by the Club Caterer may be consumed on the premises other than by special arrangement with the Committee, e.g. on the occasion of a Member’s Private Hire.
b. No drinks other than those purchased in the Club may be consumed on the premises.
c. Wine etc may be supplied by the Hirer but is subject to a corkage charge per bottle at the rate determined at that time.

11. PRAMS, WHEELCHAIRS etc:
Prams, pushchairs or any other baby carriage are permitted on Club premises at the discretion of the Committee to comply with Fire Regulations they must not be parked in corridors, entrance halls or near emergency exits. Wheelchairs must not block emergency exits.

12. RESERVING OF SEATS:
The reserving of seats by members for themselves, members or guests is not permitted if other members are without seats.

13. PUBLICITY:
No posters or notices are to be displayed on Club premises without the prior approval of Committee or Club Secretary. No member or guest is authorised to remove or deface any notice on the Notice Board.

14. SUGGESTIONS:
Any suggestions or grievance regarding Club matters must be submitted to the Club Committee in writing. Anonymous complaints will not be considered.

15. NOISE:
Members and their guests shall enter and leave the Club in an orderly and quiet manner in order to avoid any annoyance to the local residents or persons in the vicinity of the Club.

16. BAR AREA:
No unauthorised person may enter the Bar area.

17. PARKING:
The use of the car park is restricted to members and bona fide guests unless by special arrangement. Any unauthorised parking may result in wheel clamping.

18. DISCIPLINE:
Any member contravening any of these bye laws may be disciplined by the Club Committee for misconduct in accordance with the Club Rules.

19. MEMBER’S PROPERTY:
The Club accepts no responsibility for member’s property on Club premises or for cars, bicycles etc left in the car park.

20. DAMAGE:
Members will be required to pay for any damage they cause to Club property.

21. COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
If a Committee member fails to attend for three consecutive meetings they will no longer be eligible to stand as a Committee member.

22. CLUB MEMBERSHIP:
Any member of either the Ferndown Branch or Women’s Section must be a Ferndown Club member, unless they are already a Club & Branch member at another Legion Club. For Club visitors, Guests or members of another Branch & Club, these may be admitted under the registered Club rules and the Club Bye laws.

23. ELIGIBILITY FOR CLUB COMMITTEE:
No person may be eligible to serve as an officer on the Club Committee without serving at least 3 years as a Committee person of the Club.

24. SMOKING & SUBSTITUES
No smoking or use of any type of cigarette /pipe / cigar substitute are allowed within the premises only the designated smoking areas may be used.

25. REMOVAL OF PROPERTY FROM PREMISES
It is an offence which will result in disciplinary action to remove any item from the Club facilities without permission of the Club Committee.
