Cork hats and anything Australian were the order of the day. Excellent entertainment by Alan Roberts including a sing-a-long with a rousing rendition of Waltzing Matilda and the Australian National Anthem.
The evening coincided with the presentation of 2 cheques, £3784.00 from Ferndown club, the money raised from our sponsored treadmill walk in 2018, and in total £6580.50 from Dorset clubs. Holly Goodberry (Recovery Projects Manager) accepted the cheques on behalf of RBL.
We were honoured by the presence of Alan White and Joe Dillnutt both of whom were medallist at the recent Invictus Games in Sydney.
Alan’s medal was around the neck of most club members at some point during the evening. Alan’s young family came along in support, they were in Sydney to see dad win his medal.
This sunday was the last day for collecting the money, and we have a final total, what a wonderful response to a good cause, time you all took a pat on the back.
The Event to walk to raise £1,000 to send the family of an injured veteran to the games has exceeded our expectations, and so far raised £3,553.12

Once again the party spirit, with other drinks available, reigned supreme at the Royal British Legion Club Ferndown.
The club was packed with revelers enjoying the entertainment leading up to seeing in the New Year.
Like normal, fancy dress was optional but there were those that entered into the spirit more than others…..
The lounge bar had Just Jeff entertaining them,
and the hall had the disco this year.
The usual Sunday “fun quiz” was transformed with Christmas jumpers and tinsel the order of the day. The fun quiz evening included an amazing rendition of “A partridge in a pear tree”.
Another excellent night at the Legion.
Fun quiz nights continue every Sunday.
